PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for the FedEx St. Jude Championship
Who is your favorite contrarian golfer (when considering price, key stats, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
Notorious: Shane Lowry – It’s early in the week, but we currently have him sitting at 10% DK / 18% FD when it comes to pOWN. Despite posting three top 10 finishes in his last seven events, many could be scared off by the high price point and the fact that he missed the cut last week at the Wyndham Championship. I’m willing to forgive him for one bad week, especially since he gained 3.3 strokes ball striking in his two rounds. He’s an accurate driver of the ball, he’s excellent on approach, and he’s underrated around the greens. We’ve seen a lot of bad putters have success here in the past, so I’m hoping we can get a solid finish from Lowry this week.
stlcardinals84: Eric Cole – If we go back to last fall, Eric Cole was a popular value option virtually every week, and the momentum kept building as he paid off value price tags week after week. The DFS salary slowly started to increase, and then Cole hit a rough patch of form. That led to him getting basically ignored by DFS players for the entire spring and summer of 2024. Quietly, though, Cole looks to have turned a corner. He has now made the cut in each of his last six TOUR starts, and that includes a trio of top ten finishes. He finished 7th last week with solid statistical metrics across the board, as he gained strokes over the field in every strokes gained metric. I really like him as a value option this week, especially if he comes in at anything resembling sub-10% ownership.

JBails26: Russell Henley – Our first run of ownership projections has Henley sitting around 10%, which I can get on board with in a 70-player field. Overall, he ranks 5th in my mixed condition model on the Rabbit Hole from Betsperts golf, including 11th in Strokes Gained: Approach and 8th in Good Drive % over his last 50 rounds. Given this course has plenty of dog legs and narrow fairways, this should suite Henley’s game.
hondizzle: Justin Thomas – I think this is a good spot to buy low on Thomas this week. Currently projected at sub 7% pOWN%, Thomas could end up being a sneaky upside pick. In his last 5 starts at this event, Thomas has gained almost 35 shots tee to green (including two wins). I always like buying talent when others in the industry are playing the “what have you done for me lately” game.
