MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Thursday, April 4th

Who is your top overall hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

squirrelpatrol:Lane Thomas – The Pirates are getting much higher projected ownership than the Nationals in this game despite the line being about even. Lane Thomas had a .950 OPS and a .573 SLG% against left-handed pitching last season, and he’s facing a lefty in Martin Perez, who has allowed a .799 OPS to righties (compared to .639 to left-handed batters) over the course of his career.

headChopper:Jack Suwinski – I’m tempted to put Goldy vs. a lefty here, but I’ll take the salary-friendly route and say Suwinski. His price tag is way too low. The Pirates currently have the 2nd-highest team total on the FD slate and the 3rd-highest on the DK slate. He is a guy who has home run power (19.26 in his first 2 MLB seasons) and faces a pitcher who is incredibly prone to giving up home runs (1.91 HR/9 in his career).

Dean78904:Rowdy Tellez – Chop got to Suwinski first, so I’ll fall back on Rowdy. To be clear, Tellez is not technically my favorite hitter, but his salary helps me roster my legitimate favorite hitters, and really, you don’t need me to tell you that Oneil Cruz and Paul Goldschmidt are good. Tellez is cheap, in a hitter’s ballpark, has power potential, and gets to face a SP who has historically served up dongs like they tacos on Tuesday. Gray did subdue the dingers a little last season, but he was still vulnerable to unleashing them (1.33 HR/9). Washington has just one southpaw in their pen, and he has worked 3 of the last 4 days. I’m not saying the left-handed hitting Tellez won’t get pinch-hit for, but the probability of this happening appears to be diminished.

eys819:Jazz Chisholm – Jazz is off to a slow start this season, but he should be able to get going against Lance Lynn. Lynn has struggled with lefties throughout his career, and the last was especially tough for him. He allowed a .272 ISO to lefties and managed to strike out just 19.5% of them. Jazz has the power/speed combo to put up a huge fantasy score.
