A 28-year-old man serving time in the Idaho Maximum Security Institution has now been convicted of murder while incarcerated.

Juan Santos-Quintero was convicted of first-degree murder of 26-year-old Junior Garcia, according to the Ada County Prosecutor's office.

Santos-Quintero was accused of murdering Garcia after he severely beat him in prison. Mr. Garcia was transported to a local hospital but later died of his injuries. A jury trial that lasted for five days resulted in a first-degree murder conviction for Santos-Quintero. He will be sentenced in early October.
