Jackson Mahomes recently learned the hard way that not everything Taylor Swift touches turns to gold.

Whereas his sister-in-law, Brittany Mahomes, has experienced something of an image boost since aligning herself with the biggest pop star in the world, the same can’t be said for Jackson.

This week, Jackson went viral for awkwardly trying to touch Swift at a Kansas City Chiefs game.

Video of the cringeworthy encounter speaks for itself:

Folks at home who witnessed the odd scene unfolding this weekend had a strong reaction to Jackson’s awkwardness.

They took to social media to react:

So nobody is freaking out about them hanging out with an aggravated sexual battery suspect? 😬

It is fascinating to see that Jackson is so radioactive that not even Swift can save his image. Again, Brittany has become a huge star under Swift’s tutelage. That one viral video where they couldn’t keep their hands off each other was a massive hit.

Jackson, meanwhile, gets no similar love.

People don’t want him anywhere near their favorite pop star.

Will Swift eventually be able to work her magic on Jackson as well? Time will tell.
