From the moment you get pregnant, you are told to enjoy every stage of your child because it doesn’t last long. And once your baby is born? Boy, do you learn how true it is! They seem to grow and change every day. Sometimes it’s hard keeping up with all the changes… and their growth! It seems as though just as soon as they are big enough to wear that favorite outfit of yours, they have grown out of it. And toys? Yeah, those little things are expensive!

When I was pregnant with my first child, I started looking at all the “things” I was told I needed: clothes (in multiple sizes!), a crib, a pack ‘n play, changing table, nursing pillows, bottles, baby bath tub, tub toys, a swing/rocker, a playmat, tummy-time toys, soft toys, DIAPERS! And that is just a small list for a newborn, as they grow, they need more. I was overwhelmed. Until I found the Just Between Friends (JBF) consignment sale.

The first time I walked into the huge building filled with rows upon rows of everything I needed, I again was overwhelmed—in a good way. Here was absolutely everything I needed from pregnancy (hello cute maternity clothes!) to baby needs and even big kid and teen needs. It was all in good condition and many things were new in the box. The best part? Most items were priced 50-90 percent off retail prices. I walked out of there with everything I needed at a tiny fraction of what I’d pay elsewhere.

Since then, I’ve added one more child and began consigning clothes and toys I no longer need. The average consignor’s check is $400, which is more than enough for me to turn around and purchase anything I may need for my girls for the next six months (yes, the sale happens twice a year!). It’s a great way to spend very little on what our kids need while getting them quality items.

The family who runs the sale is really focused on safety and quality. All things that go into the sale are meticulously checked for recalls and everything is checked for quality. Stains and holes? You won’t see those in the clothes you get at the sale because every item is inspected before being put on the sale floor.

The next Just Between Friends is this week. The Pre-Sale started Thursday and the sale is open to the public Friday through Sunday. You’ll want to come Friday and Saturday for the most items to choose from, but you’ll also want to return Sunday for the half-price sale. Any items that aren’t marked with a star are half off (and in my experience, that’s the majority of the items). You can find out more information on the dates and times and ticket prices at www.bremerton.jbfsale.com. See you there!
