I lusted after him in all three Evil Dead movies and even now, in middle age, he’s still a fox. I’ve got a chance to meet him later this year at a convention and I’m excited.

Some time in the 90s, TBS (IIRC) ran a double bill of [italic]Briscoe County[/italic] and [italic]Due South[/italic], which I would record overnight. I loved Campbell's combination of old-fashioned good looks and comic timing. I read his memoir. He does not take himself too seriously. I'm sure he'll be fun to talk to..

My only hope is that he is not a Trumpkin .
His son is nerdy cute.

Ash vs Evil Dead was good, but by 3 seasons it'd played itself out and I wasn't unhappy it got cancelled.

OMG, I never knew he did a gay scene!. Yummy.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 7, 2019 7:28 PM |
I've heard mixed things about him from friends who attend these cons. Some say he's a hoot and some say he's fairly curt and rushes people away. Typically, he has very long lines, so I can understand this. Some people misinterpret a quick but pleasant encounter as a slight against them. I have one friend who gets angry if he meets a celebrity and they don't stop to have a 20 minute conversation with him. All of a sudden, they're "rude."

Kassie DePavia (Eve, "Days" & Blair "OLTL") lived with him in the 80s, as she was his leading lady in one of his films.

I watched a couple episodes of "The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr." today, a weird western show he did for one season in the early '90s. He was at his peak sexiness in it—so many shots of his meaty legs and ass in jeans. He was stunningly handsome, to the point that I had trouble paying attention to the show—all I could think about was how badly I want his cock in me.

He was shockingly good-looking for the career he's had (not that there's anything wrong with the career he's had). His gift for slapstick is amazing. Evil Dead II would be nothing much to write home about if not for the verve he shows in set piece after set piece.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 6, 2020 4:07 AM |
He's 62, so middle age is behind him. He still looks great, though.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 6, 2020 4:38 AM |
Hot as fuck. He was at a horror convention I went to last year but his line was WAY too long. I hope he’s not a Trumpkin too.

I know he lives in Jacksonville, OR, an artsy, upscale little town near the Oregon-California border—my sister-in-law is from that area and a number of celebrities own houses in that part of southwestern Oregon.
As far as him being a Trumper, I highly doubt it. He says in this interview from 1996 that he is a registered Independent but leans Democratic, and also claims to be an avid environmentalist.

Someone on LiveJournal about 15 years ago told a story about how they were an extra on Hercules when he was a guest star and he was a crank the entire time, complained about his salary, and walked off with a pile of food from the craft services table when the scene was done.

The one person I know who met him at a con got the "curt" treatment, R7. But while I've seen interviews with him where he's a big crabby ass, a colleague interviewed him about five years ago and said he was great and almost wouldn't stop talking.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 6, 2020 1:03 PM |
When he was younger, he was a lot thinner.
Then he started to get beefy.

[quote]He was shockingly good-looking for the career he's had
I found him dead sexy (heh) when he was younger, but his presence has an undercurrent of something - Smarm? Aggression? - that I think doesn't work well with bog-standard leading man roles. Obviously it works to his advantage in comedy and action.
Come to think of it, he is probably the reason I have a thing for long faces and lanky guys.
Before he published his memoirs he was sharing his showbiz stories on his website. Don't know if they're still there but they were good reads. Funny and down to earth. I remember he said he was going to turn down some movie, but then his hot water heater broke.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 6, 2020 1:54 PM |
R23 - interesting about the smarm/aggression - it puts me in mind of another actor I always found attractive but whose career never really took off - Chris Eigemann, best known for Metropolitan and Barcelona.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 6, 2020 4:08 PM |
It may be the characters he chose to play R24, but it is more likely he is like that, and the roles just suit him (seems like many actors just play a variation on themselves).
That said, in every role I've ever seen him in, if I were in the movie, I would slap Eigemann in the face.

I was kinda surprised that Sam Raimi didn't give Campbell more to do in the Spider Man movies. I could see him as J. Jonah Jameson or a super-villain.

The original three EVIL DEAD movies are circulating on one of the movie channels right now, and I keep watching them over and over.
I remember seeing the first EVIL DEAD in 1982 and just being stunned at how beautiful Bruce was - I wanted him to be my boyfriend! He wasn't a "hunk" like Maxwell Caufield or Tom Selleck was back then, but just so beautiful. His eyes...
People mention his gift for humor, but I was most impressed with his naturalness. His facial expressions in EVIL DEAD seem so distinct but not overdone.
Ashley also comes across as very sweet in the first movie. Yes, like that one chick in EVIL DEAD, I call him "Ashley," not "Ash."
by Anonymous | reply 52 | June 24, 2021 1:58 PM |
He had a nude scene in Ash vs. The Evil Dead. He should have done it in his prime.

Chris Eigemann is very much of the same genre.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | August 27, 2021 10:40 PM |
He has something rare for a lot of male actors - vulnerability. He doesn't mind risking looking foolish. In the Evil Dead movies, he's essentially a man doing the Jame Lee Curtis/Final Girl thing which could have really been laughable, but he commits to it beautifully. He definitely earns his macho man character arc by the time Army of Darkness rolled around.

Bruce was incredibly hot in his prime. He had a rugged sex appeal similar to Matt Dillon—both have the dark hair/eyes, defined jawline, hairy chests...come to think of it, they almost look like they could be related. I would have done terrible things to get in-between the two of them.

Ash vs Evil Dead was so good. I only discovered it a few months back and it was the show I never knew I needed. Just fantastic. I wasn't sad it ended after 3 seasons either (better than going on and on and on), but it was a shame it finished on a cliffhanger. The second season finished completely, maybe it would've been better to just have ended there?

I watched the original Evil Dead today for the first time in a long time. I didn’t remember him having such a big ass—you see a lot of it while he’s traipsing around in his jeans. Nice, round bubble butt. The rest of him was pretty lean/muscular. He was a very attractive man.
