PLEASANT GROVE, Utah – Officials with the Utah Department of Environmental Quality said a boil order that was in place for parts of Pleasant Grove has been lifted.

The order was issued Saturday after E. coli bacteria was detected in the city’s culinary water system.

City officials said additional test samples from the Monson Service Area were taken on Tuesday and Wednesday, and they showed no signs of bacteria.

“All samples were absent of coliform and E. coli,” officials said. “These sample results show the drinking water meets regulator standards and is safe to drink. All testing has shown that the original contamination has been isolated to nine homes located on 300 North between 300 East and 400 East.”

Officials said all homes in the Monson Service Area do not need to flush their systems. For precautionary reasons, they did say homes located between 200 North to 500 North and 200 East to 400 East should run each tap or faucet for a minimum of five minutes and dispose of all ice formed since the boil order was issued.

The city will continue to test and monitor water at the nine homes where the original contamination was located each week for the next month to ensure their water is safe.
