MADERA, Calif. (FOX26) — A truck crashed into a building in Madera Tuesday morning.
It happened around 7:30 a.m. at Howard Rd. and Williams Ave. Police said the driver hit a parked car on Yosemite, which ripped the passenger side wheel off, but the driver continued driving the truck on three wheels.
The driver continued westbound on Yosemite and made contact with a moving vehicle before crashing into the commercial building a few blocks away.
The driver was taken to the hospital, but their condition is unknown. Police say his driver's license was previously suspended for DUI.
"Drunk driving continues to be a problem in our community. We ask that those who choose to drink always take the time to designate a sober driver, use a ride-sharing service, or phone a friend or family member for a ride," the Madera Police Department spokesperson said. "If you suspect you are driving near an intoxicated driver, call 911 to report it."
The driver faces multiple charges, including DUI, hit-and-run and driving on a suspended license.
