That snippet was incredible. He's still talking about Biden, but almost affectionately. Like he knows he could have beaten Biden but knows Harris will win.

by Anonymousreply 3August 23, 2024 4:18 AM

Haha, it's bad when even FOX News you're a TWO-TIME LOSER!

by Anonymousreply 4August 23, 2024 4:21 AM

It's not that the right wing media are all of a sudden growing a spine. Dark money billionaire donors are getting very nervous and with good reason. The carnival barker act is no longer working, quite the opposite. Miss Lindz was parroting those same concerns earlier (policies over entertainment) and he usually has his head deep inside Trump's ass.

by Anonymousreply 5August 23, 2024 4:23 AM

The rats are jumping from the sinking ship!

by Anonymousreply 6August 23, 2024 4:24 AM

OP's link didn't have any indication of turning on Trump. They trashed Biden/Harris.

by Anonymousreply 7August 23, 2024 4:29 AM

But those billionaires, including Mr. Murdoch, did not want Trump to be the nominee and they did not want Vance to be the running mate.

In order to wrest control of the party from the hivemind, it will be necessary to start to show and explain to their audience that Trump is losing a once winnable election because of his hubris.

If they can start telegraphing to their audience that Trump has conned them and can’t fight for them, they will be able to take the power they gave him back.

by Anonymousreply 8August 23, 2024 4:29 AM

heh, perfect r2. Of course it's never occurred to him to have a strategy or any actual ideas to win anybody over, ever. It's just bullshit and blather about being a winner.

Pathetic and hilarious, all at once.

by Anonymousreply 10August 23, 2024 4:30 AM

[quote]If the Republicans lose this year’s election – against an administration whose policies have been rejected by the public in poll after poll – they will deserve to lose.

Um, what policies would that be, exactly? And if Kamala wins the popular vote, doesn't that automatically mean those policies were, in fact, popular?

by Anonymousreply 11August 23, 2024 4:34 AM

No, r10. I just know how to read. They acknowledge that the Trump campaign is losing and proceed to shit on Biden/Harris. That is not "turning on Trump."

by Anonymousreply 12August 23, 2024 4:37 AM

Wall Street Jounral are also reactionary bigots. The public are not against the Dem agenda. In fac the public are far to the left of BOTH parties. 85% of the public want gun control. If they understood the issues, 100% would want corporate governance reform to prevent CEOs from looting corporations.

by Anonymousreply 13August 23, 2024 4:39 AM

R12 you are autistic aren’t you?

You are unable to understand that the editorial is reiterating its opposition to policies its readers already agree with. They are telling their conservative audience, “The Democrats’ policies are horrible and our candidate is losing. This should be an easily winnable election. If we are losing, then we deserve to lose.”

How could you fail to understand this?

How autistic are you?

by Anonymousreply 19August 23, 2024 5:48 AM

This is going to be the worst political season in the history of elections. The MAGATs are going all in. Kamala has given a lot of interviews and not all of them flattering. Same with Mrs Walz. Wait until you hear her speak and the kinds of things she says. Her convention makeover was ridiculous too. It's going to horrible election. I think the only winner this election is going to be Gus Walz and his millions of new followers.

by Anonymousreply 27August 23, 2024 9:56 AM

The Republican media is realizing its greatest fear -Trump IS the laziest presidential candidate in history. He still thinks that he can win based totally on off the cuff ridicule and stream of consciousness utterings; no discipline. He thought he could breeze with Biden, since his rival would not fight back, making his laziness rewarded. Now, the bullied is fighting back in the fiercest way and he can't make the effort to pivot, but still appears only to his sycophants, spewing the exact same ridicule as he has spewed for the last 9 yrs, still thinking he public has an appetite for it, since the only ones he meets are the gullible who believe it. With this fierce pushback from the Dems, more and more fence-sitters ( who were only there out of fear) and independents can muster the courage to join the growing movement of citizens who realize what is happening and are very much against it. If the Dems can keep their message solid and keep to the sensible middle, they will vanquish the would- be baby king once and for all.

by Anonymousreply 32August 23, 2024 11:21 AM

I'm wondering if OP and I read the same WSJ editorial. Sowell is such a fucking coward. Turning on Trump? He doesn't dare call out Trump by name -- or even mention Trump by name -- once in his clucking-hen piece of worry about the Dems winning the election. Trump is the problem, if you are a Republican who wants to win.

What a coward.

by Anonymousreply 33August 23, 2024 11:40 AM

He’s just so fucking repetitive - the same thing over and over and over again. He stupidly asks the Fox anchors if they know a guy named Sean Hannity (yeah, I know that he knows that they know) but his schtick is so fucking tired and boring. I would be pissed if I were GOP but thankfully, I’m not and never have been so I’m delighted by this hole-digging he’s doing.

And the WSJ blasted Harris - the author was merely frustrated but still very, very negative to the Democrats. I was expecting more against Trump.

by Anonymousreply 35August 23, 2024 11:47 AM

Sowell is human garbage and always has been.

by Anonymousreply 36August 23, 2024 12:42 PM

The WSJ Editorial Board is just another Murdoch purchased noise machine. And while the article has an anti-Trump soupçon of believability, it then moves on to a "How could you lose to a Democratic Party so out of touch with America" CRAP.

Murdoch needs to go buy donuts with Vance.

by Anonymousreply 41August 23, 2024 10:55 PM

R40 I feel that it started with Reagan ending the “Fairness Doctrine,” which had required that media outlets give equal time to opposing political parties. Reagan’s action led to the establishment of Fox News, and the freedom for Murdock to buy up many media outlets. I feel there is a line between Reagan and much of where the Republican Party is today.

by Anonymousreply 42August 24, 2024 12:00 AM

Trump just said at a rally "I'm gonna sleep with that chart tonight!" The fuck? He's seriously losing his shit.

by Anonymousreply 43August 24, 2024 12:02 AM

R43, I hate Fox News as much as any sane person, but Fox News is cable and would never fall under the fairness doctrine, which covers televised broadcasts.

by Anonymousreply 44August 24, 2024 1:10 AM

Oops, meant r42 at my post above.

by Anonymousreply 45August 24, 2024 1:10 AM

[quote]He still thinks that he can win based totally on off the cuff ridicule and stream of consciousness utterings; no discipline.

I suspect he thinks that if he loses, he can just claim fraud again, but this time he'll have fraudulent electors and a fraudulent infrastructure to back him up. I think he's laying the groundwork for that now (he certainly is in Georgia, for example). Of course it's easier to fraudulently stay in an office you already occupy than to get fraudulently sworn in to it.

by Anonymousreply 46August 24, 2024 2:25 AM

R44 Thanks for the correction. After doing a little reading, it makes sense because the doctrine originated in 1949 when essentially all broadcasts were through the air and hence regulated by the FCC.

by Anonymousreply 47August 24, 2024 3:06 AM

There is no reason the Fairness Doctrine can't be extended to outlets that broadcast on the Internet or through cable. The vehicle is not the problem, the content is.

by Anonymousreply 48August 24, 2024 3:23 AM

by Anonymousreply 56August 24, 2024 4:51 PM

Isn't IHeartMedia just the rebranded Clear Channel? No surprises there.

by Anonymousreply 57August 24, 2024 4:56 PM

by Anonymousreply 59August 24, 2024 5:39 PM

Democratic media is also getting much sharper in what they call him:

[quote]Now, as Trump increasingly acts like his brain is broken, the frequency and enormity of his lies have reached new levels. Trump is a desperate man. Vice President Kamala Harris has caught or passed him in the polls. Crowds at her rallies dwarf Trump’s. And last month, the “very stable genius” made a very stupid decision, picking a running mate in Ohio’s Sen. JD Vance who has even lower approval ratings than he does.

[quote]In the campaign’s final weeks, expect much more talk from Trump and his sycophants of dark people invading neighborhoods and streaming across the border, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies that take jobs away from white males. If you think Trump’s birther attacks on President Barack Obama were beyond the pale, wait till you see what Trump and his band of misfits have in store for voters in seven or eight swing states.

[quote]Marine Corps Gen. John Kelly, who served his country with distinction for 46 years and then spent 17 months as Trump’s White House chief of staff, has called Trump, “the most flawed person I have ever met in my life,” someone who “has no idea what American stands for.”

His brain exploded when he realized his MAGAs are fucked, R89.

by Anonymousreply 90August 29, 2024 11:41 PM

[quote] That old vampire Rupert [Murdoch] … was never a fan of Trump because he can't control him.

R87 And there you have the power of Trump. Imagine, one of the richest and most influential people on the planet cannot control Trump.

I believe it’s due in part to a kind of co-dependence on Trump’s psychopathy. Many people walk on eggshells around people in their lives who are alcoholic, drug-abusers, or mentally ill. Rather than risk starting a nightmarish or threatening scene, they let the ill person get away with everything. The process doesn’t end unless the co-dependent no longer permits the abuse or puts the person out of their lives.

I think that is what voting en masse so that Harris/Walz win will do. Once the MAGAs lose all their legal cases for not certifying votes and/or claiming that the election was “stolen,” and particularly if Trump goes to prison, I think the co-dependence cycle will be broken.

by Anonymousreply 91August 30, 2024 5:52 AM

[quote]Imagine, one of the richest and most influential people on the planet cannot control Trump.

Not quite control, but certainly he can use that influence unmatchably. Any time he chooses, Murdoch can make a few calls to deepen the emphasis in his media empire in the direction which (rightly) drenches DL every day.

There is after all so very much lifelong material to use. One call to a Fox executive - "I think we need to focus more on that [fill in blank] business with Trump...", and other outlets will surely follow the new narrative. Even as he faces defeat, it would take a lot for Trump to dare to invent a pathetic nickname for Murdoch.

by Anonymousreply 92August 30, 2024 7:36 AM

Very disappointing if the Murdoch owned WSJ is back to pushing Trump - money talks. Rupert wants Dump dead and Lachlan reportedly cried when Dump was declared POTUS. They need the MAGA nuts to churn money.

Fuck.
